Kenny and his sister Shae are involved in an event in their childhood that affects them to this day. Kenny was abducted by Aliens and has not been right since. The official explanation is that it was LSD that the kids had, that caused this experience. Kenny does not believe this and believes that he was amongst the aliens. It is now many years later and Kenny believes it is time to begin the end, but no one believes him. His sister Shae may be a bit of a believer since she is called in to explain why a dead whale would be in the middle of the Sahara desert and her comment is “What are they up to now?”.

This story of this comic is very intriguing. A boy went on an accidental acid trip and believes that Aliens came to get him, but his story seems to have a bit of credence to it. This is a pretty good set up and makes me want to see what happens next. It reminded me a lot of an old movie called fragility. In this movie a father becomes a demon hunter, but all his children see is him killing people. The movie is all about whether the father is doing god’s work or just a murderer. Same premise here, but with Alien abductors.

It has a cool cliffhanger at the end which also features this double meaning. Did the tragic thing happen or did the aliens come as predicted?

The artwork or more accurately the color is my biggest complaint about the comic. The images are detailed and well-drawn, no complaints there. The colors however are just not good. The whole comic is basically black and white with a shade of orange or purple over and around the images. I just do

not have a tolerance for that sort of coloring in comics currently. I did not feel like this technique added anything to the book and in fact took a little bit away.

Overall, I give Stargazer #1 5 capes out of 10. The story is well written with good emotions that you can feel. The artwork is even drawn in a way that shows the emotion of what is happening clearly. The color is just awful and unfortunately, I just cannot get past it.
